It does for the media keys, but the others like F4: backlit keyboard don't produce a key value, or F1 produces the left windows key (E0_5B), or F2 and F3 produce Unknown E0_2B.Īnyone attempted this? It'd be cool if I could somehow remap the special F1 into something, maybe even refresh so I could keep all my special modes otherwise. Sharpkeys doesn't recognize the "Special mode" on most of the function keys. I never change back into normal F-mode unless it's to use F5 to refresh, and in that case I just tap Fn+F5. I think almost all of them OTHER than the F1 are very helpful. But the HP Elitebook 8540p's keyboard isn't one of them. The issue is, I typically use the function keys on the Envy. As a result if on the keyboard Fn+arrow does have some function, like changing brightness or volume then you can assign Fn+arrow to Home/End/PgUp/PgDown by remapping the brightness or volume keys to them. It's really just that I sometimes fat-finger the F1 while trying to press Esc, and having Edge pop up with the dumb help message is annoying. I also wouldn't care for it if it just pulled up the help file for whatever application I'm on: it simply isn't helpful to me. On my laptop it summons Windows Edge "How to get help with Windows 10" no matter what application I'm on. What I would love to know is all devices need to be disabled to totally stop the tablet mode the intel sensor does not do it in this case or it may do but keeps the keyboard and pad in tablet mode off.Hey all, I've had this laptop for while now and randomly decided I won't tolerate the F1 key function anymore. Be nice if HP actually solved issue to the end. I am pretty sure it is the sensor that cuts out keyboard and mouse while in tablet mode and its stuck no matter what I do in desktop mode. It did the job along with providing some useful features It is a shame there is no place on HP keyboard for Insert, although I was able to remap a rarely used 'Next track' key. Have done every this suggested even factory restore using the HP cloud utility. Using the link you provided, I installed PowerToys. If your computer is running Windows 10 in S mode, use Windows Update to check. For example, if youre using a multimedia keyboard with extra volume, mute, and play/pause keys, those should show up in SharpKeys. I was used to pressing the power button to shut the laptop down easily. See the image: My previous laptop, Lenovo G580 with Windows 10 Pro (x86), had a dedicated power button near the hinge. That is, the power button is actually a key on the keyboard itself. Do note, however, that the exact keys available to you for remapping depend on your keyboard. This laptop does not have a dedicated power button off its keyboard. This model is HP X360 14-DH it does have a very small crack top right corner of the digitiser however touch works fine and even if I disable touch same result no keyboard or mousepad. Note: HP Support Assistant is not available for Windows 10 in S mode. Weve tested SharpKeys in Windows 11, 10, 8, 7, and Vista, and it works just fine in all of them. Basically, I'd like to be able to remap the key to the default f1 function or to something else of my choice, and reverse the f5 key, so that I have to press fn+f5 to toggle the backlight or press just the f5 key for refreshing. Told windows to only use desktop mode no difference. Key remapping software also recognized it as the left windows key. Same issue however Keyboard and mouse off as it seems stuck in tablet mode tried to disable Intel Integrated Sensor made no difference done registry hack in Immersion section still no keyboard and mouse. I searched windows for any tool that I could use to re-calibrate the drivers for the sensors for the convertible aspect of this modem but could not find anything. Has anyone ever experienced this? Or does anyone have any idea when I could do to fix this? I removed and refreshed the sensor drivers in device manager, but that did not fix it. The HP support department suggested that Windows 10 should be refreshed but im not so sure that is going to fix the problem. The mouse and keyboard work when in bios, but not in Windows 10. Then I replaced the screen and put everything back. I disassembled the unit and removed the logic board from the case to get at the screen along with all the other components. This model had a cracked screen and so I replaced it with a new model. The keyboard and mouse was working before I did any work on the unit. So when it is flipped into tablet mode, my assumption is that it disables the keyboard and touchpad.
